In September, George Strait announced the last of the concert dates for his “The Cowboy Rides Away“ tour. There was one particular date missing though. The last concert date was left off the official announcement. We DID know it would be at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, but he official date was not given.
The wait is over. As of this week, we now know that the date will be Saturday, June 7th. As you may remember, George has various country superstars opening for him along the way. This one will be special though as the final show will apparently feature all of them: Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, Ronnie Dunn, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, and Lee Ann Womack. Each superstar will perform three songs each.
Now, I know what you’re probably thinking, so let’s not even go there. I am thinking of Dumb & Dumber as I write this. “Just when I think you couldn’t possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this… and TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!”
The opening act for this concert will be our own Ray Benson and Asleep At the Wheel!
Good call George!
Just for the record, although this does end Geroge’s touring days, he is still going to be making albums for a while. And the general consensus is that he will still do shows form time to time for various events. He just will not be adhering to a “Tour Schedule” anymore.
So the question is, how fast does George sell out the 100,000 seat stadium!?
